The first time I saw The Cannery was back in October of 2016, when my fiance and I were looking for a venue for our wedding. After months of tirelessly looking for the perfect venue and countless tours of wedding venues, we were left discouraged and unimpressed. Then, by some twist of fate, my mom happened to hear about a new industrial barn venue opening up called "The Cannery". I begrudgingly agreed to go look at it, but I wasn't exactly looking for a "barn" wedding because I wanted something different and unique. A few days later, we pulled up to a run down looking old building that looked like a construction zone. I thought to myself, "This can't be it. I really hope this isn't it." We meet the owner Dave out front and he told us upfront that the cannery was just a construction zone right now and they didn't expect it to be completed until June 2017. He told us that he would take us inside but we would really have to use our imagination. As Dave explained to us the rustic, industrial plans they had for "The Cannery", I envisioned my dream venue. We booked our wedding right then and there and never looked back.
Fast forward eight months; The Cannery is now completed and everything that Dave had first explained to us and had us envision has become a reality. If you're looking for a unique industrial wedding venue with rustic vibes right here in CNY, then "The Cannery at One Ward" in Vernon, NY might just be the perfect venue for you too. While the outside looks like an enchanting barn, step inside and you'll find gorgeous rusted metal and brick walls, concrete floors, and many industrial details (even in the men's bathroom!). Not to mention, it's completely climate controlled (hellooooo AC).
It's been many years since The Cannery, originally known as Ward's Canning Company and home of the first bean harvester closed it's doors. In 2016, local wedding professionals envisioned a great deal of potential for the facility and decided to give it new life. I absolutely fell in love with it's large industrial reception space, cozy attached chapel, beautiful bridal suite, and outdoor courtyard/fire pit area.
I've always dreamed of putting together a styled wedding shoot and I knew I really wanted to do it right here at The Cannery. So I contacted some friends and fellow wedding professionals. We brainstormed the perfect industrial wedding and then brought it to life. I am so excited for all of the weddings I already have booked here in 2017/2018 but most of all, I can't wait to get married here at The Cannery at One Ward!
