We did Brittnee & Jake's engagement session at Jake's family camp in Alder Creek, NY. They both LOVE the outdoors and this is also where Jake proposed to Brittnee, so it was the perfect location for them!
I loved getting to know Brittnee & Jake. Here are some things that I learned about their love story:
Tell me about your first date!
Jake: "We had our first date at Swifty’s in Utica. She was wearing a blue dress with pink flowers on it and i thought she looked gorgeous. I was certainly nervous but we had a great time. After dinner, she left to go hang out with her cousin and I texted her saying I had a great time and she agreed. We agreed to go on our second date and after that we were inseparable!"
Do you have a favorite date that you've ever been on together?
Brittnee: "We went on a date to the sunflower fields in Rome!"
Jake: "We hiked Giant Mountain together and afterwards went to Texas Roadhouse."
Tell me about your first kiss!
Jake: "We had just watched the Minions Movie and went to get a drink at Swifty’s after. I kissed her in the parking lot walking to the car. I was very nervous!"
What made you fall in love with Jake? What do you love most about him?
Brittnee: "Throughout my dating experience I could never find the one I clicked with the most and could be my genuine whole self around. What I love about Jake is his willingness to do anything I want to do and is always there to cheer me up. I know at the end of the day Jake is the person I can come home to and depend on to be there for me and my family."
What made you fall in love with Brittnee? What do you love most about her?
Jake: "It was always hard trying to find someone that I got along so well with. We love all the same things (for the most part) and Britt is always open to trying new things and is adventurous like me. I really love that she always genuinely cares about what is going on in my life and what I have to say. She has always supported me through thick and thin."
How did you get engaged? Tell me the whole story!
Jake: "We had previously talked about getting engaged and had looked at rings so the fact that I proposed wasn’t that much of a surprise but she definitely wasn’t expecting it when I did. I thought the perfect place would be at my family’s camp seeing as we are both very outdoorsy people, camp has always held a special place in my heart and a place where me and Britt have spent a lot of time. I had the ring in my backpack and we went down to the waterfront to go kayaking. I planned to propose there once we returned from kayaking and leaned the backpack against a tree. Of course about 5 minutes into the paddle, it started to downpour so we turned around and went back inside. I was a little dismayed that the weather had seemingly ruined my plan but the rain let up and I suggested that we hangout by the water and have a drink. I put the ring in my pocket and we went down to the water. I wanted to capture the moment on video so said we should take a picture. I hit record and set it down against a tree and once we were standing there, I popped the question! I was so nervous but she said yes and I couldn’t have been happier!"
Brittnee: "That Saturday, Jake had planned to spend the night up at his camp. I thought it was really weird because no one was texting me at all that day. Anyway we went on a kayaking trip and I didn’t really want to go. It looked like it was going to rain. We went on the kayaks and Jake told me I was being a crabby patty. It started to rain and we headed back to camp. Once we got to camp it started to down pour. I was soaked and really upset because our day at camp turned out to be so crappy. Once it stopped raining Jake wanted to go down by the water. He wanted to take a photo of us. I suggested a video because I did not know how else to take the photo. He placed it on a tree stump, but noticed a boat in the water. Then said we have to wait. I thought this was odd, and then he asked me to marry him. Obviously he got down on one knee. I couldn’t believe it what was going on and the entire night was still in disbelief."
Brittnee & Jake are such a sweet couple and I can't wait to photograph their wedding in September 2021 at Daniele's at Valley View in Utica, NY!
